Here we are again – Friday! It already feels like our ski weekend was ages ago. This week felt particularly long for no other reason than the repetitive slog of cold, cold, and more cold. Even though this weekend doesn’t look like it will be much warmer, I’m looking forward to cracking open the bottle of wine that’s been sitting untouched all week and falling back on some old food favorites. If you can’t beat ’em, might as well join ’em with meatballs and brownies, right?
Iced Cappuccinos + Blueberry Scones. I am itching for iced coffee season, so I’ll be treating myself to my favorite extra frothy iced cappuccino from Small World Coffee in Princeton. And for me, there’s nothing like a buttery, flaky scone as a sign that’s going to be a good weekend.
Wintery Salad. Lunch is always an awkward meal for me on the weekends. Since we don’t eat breakfast until a little later, I don’t usually get hungry for lunch until 3, but don’t want to eat anything too heavy because we usually like to indulge ourselves at dinner. This protein-packed salad bowl looks amazing and is sure to hold you over until nighttime festivities.
Gin Martinis + Spaghetti with Meatballs. To switch it up from our usual Old Fashioneds, we’ll go with another drink that feels decidedly old fashioned and Mad Men-y: Gin Martinis. And keeping with nostalgia, spaghetti with meatballs are an obvious choice.
Brownies. Speaking of nostalgia, nothing brings me back to childhood quite like a gooey, fudge brownie. Extra points if it’s from the box.
