Friday Five: Blog Lovin’

Today I’m sharing my 5 favorite food blogs. These food blogs are like my morning news. I check them on the reg and always get giddy when a new recipe pops up. I’m constantly looking to these blogs for inspiration or just some lovely food porn when a sugar craving strikes at work. Check ’em out and spread the love!

Big Girls Small Kitchen

Big Girls Small Kitchen is one of the first food blogs I started following regularly after I heard about it on an episode of Barefoot Contessa. BGSK could not be more accessible for someone like me: the recipes are geared towards twenty-somethings cooking on a budget and in tight kitchens. Favorite recipes: lotus blondies and sweet pea crostini

Feed Me Phoebe

Feed Me Phoebe is the blog from one of the original founders of Big Girls Small Kitchen. I love visiting Phoebe’s blog for her gorgeous pictures and healthy, yet super flavorful recipes. Feed Me Phoebe is also a great resource for gluten-free recipes, like GF peanut noodles  and even GF mac and cheese!

caesar salad deviled eggs from Smitten Kitchen

Smitten Kitchen

Deb Perelman really sets the bar (a really high bar!) for food bloggers. I love that the blog design itself is very basic and simple, which allows her pro-quality pictures and extremely detailed recipes to really shine. Smitten Kitchen’s recipes can be a little more time intensive, so I like to go here for inspiration for simpler recipes or when I know I want to go all out. Favorite recipes: caesar salad deviled eggs, ethereally smooth hummus, and stuffed mushrooms.

How Sweet It Is

How Sweet It Is has a such wide range of recipes; from balanced salads and seafood to over-the-top desserts (oh hey, peanut butter fudge pretzel brownies), Jessica really covers it all. Her pictures are also insanely come-hither mouthwatering. Oh, and she also frequently talks about her obsession with ’90s TV shows, boy bands and rainbow sprinkles. We’re basically soul mates. Favorite recipes: brussels sprouts bacon pizza and buffalo chicken french breads.

chocolate brownie cookies from Joy the Baker

Joy the Baker

Reading a blog post on Joy the Baker is like reading a poem. I love her creative and honest writing style that makes me feel connected to her not only because I want to make every single recipe of hers, but also because she writes as if she were talking directly to you. Her pictures are also crazy beautiful. Favorite recipes: chocolate brownie cookies and peanut butter banana smoothie.
